Here's how expensive Ford's upcoming Fathom electric truck will get

Vlad, 30 October 2026

Back in August, Ford revealed that its next electric truck will be called Fathom, and that it will start at $28,350. That's the base price, of course, so what about the nicer trims? Today during its third quarter earnings call, the company gave us a rough idea.

"The starting price of $28,350 is just that," said Andrew Frick, president of Ford Blue and Model e. "We'll have a range that goes to the high $30,000 range. And we'll have a couple of different offerings within that." So this sounds to us like there will be around two or three trims for the Fathom ("a couple" including the base model or not), and that even the most expensive option will be under $40,000. You know how the saying goes, "big if true".

Ford CEO Jim Farley also hinted at how the company plans to make more money from its affordable truck: subscriptions. According to him, customers who spend more on the "nicer" trims really care about the digital experience, and he called the digital suite, including the built-in Apple Maps, "really a game changer for any EV, let alone at this price." Farley added that this will be "the most exciting upsell opportunity", which is "really the long-term subscription and digital experience for the customer."

So while even a well-equipped Fathom shouldn't cost too much upfront, it remains to be seen how many of its features will come with a monthly fee. Pre-orders are set to open in early 2027, with first deliveries planned for late 2027. The Fathom will be a midsize electric pickup, and the first model built on Ford's new Universal EV Platform.
