Lotus Envya (Type 133) spied in China yet again, here's what it looks like

Vlad, 1 August 2023

The upcoming Lotus Envya has been a darling of the spy shot world since November of last year. We've seen it in various amounts of camouflage a bunch of times already, and today there's been one more sighting.

Again, we're talking about a camouflaged prototype, but, for what it's worth, this one is camouflaged differently compared to all the others. We can see more of its features, so let's dive right in.

It has a mildly different design language compared to the already official Eletre, with dual-level daytime running lights in the front. The front bumper is reminiscent of the Eltre's slightly, with a similar air intake with active grille.

The Envya (or at least this prototype) has physical side mirrors, which is interesting considering that the Eletre was the first model to be offered in China with cameras instead, right after that technology became legal in the country earlier this month. We assume the Envya will have cameras for side mirrors as an option then.

There's a hidden LiDAR sensor on the roof, as well as sensors on the fenders. On the back, there's a single taillight across the width of the car, and a diffuser. The Envya will be the first EV sedan from Lotus, built on the EPA (Electric Premium Architecture), which is a slightly modified version of Geely's SEA platform.

According to previous rumors and leaks, the Envya will have the same powertrain as the Eletre, meaning it will have dual motors in its base model capable of a total of 603 hp (450 kW) of power and 710 Nm of torque. The top of the line version should thus come with three motors developing a total of 905 hp (675 kW) with 985 Nm of torque.

Inside, there's a large 'floating' screen, a thin instrument panel, and two independent back seats. The car is expected to hit the streets by the end of this year, as Lotus' second mass-produced EV. Its official introduction is rumored to happen at the Chengdu Auto Show in August. Pricing is still a mystery, but don't expect it to be cheap.
