Peugeot e-2008 real world range test

Vik Braykov, 07 April 2024

The Peugeot 2008 model has been on the market for over a decade and has long been a consumers' favorite. Its second generation recently got a facelift and we tested the newest addition to the lineup - the fully electric e-2008. It comes with a 54 kWh battery pack and a 115 kW (156 hp) motor attached to the front axle. The little Frenchman is a decent city-oriented SUV on paper and its design full of character certainly helped boost its popularity.

Peugeot e-2008 real world range test

Our detailed review of the Peugeot e-2008 is coming soon, but as usual we'll start with the results of its range test. The Peugeot’s light weight, compact size and single motor should boost efficiency, making it an excellent choice for a daily driver. And since it’s basically a rebadged Jeep Avenger with fancier styling, we expect the final results to be in line.

Peugeot e-2008 real world range test

We drove our usual test routes, doing the same track both ways at constant speeds at the same place as with every other car we test. The ambient temperature while testing the e-2008 was 63°F, which is near perfect, so the Peugeot gets a bit of a bonus.

At our lowest testing speed of 37 mph the Peugeot e-2008 really needs very little energy to keep going. It consumes only 6.4 mi/kWh, which allows you to travel over 311 miles on a single charge.

Upping the pace to 56 mph sees the e-2008 match its direct rivals as the consumption starts going up, but it's still a decent showing.

At the highest testing speed of 81 mph it becomes evident the e-2008 is designed for city traffic. Its consumption rises drastically as do most of its direct rivals. The good news is the e-2008 still retains a tiny edge.

Overall, the Peugeot e-2008 is a very efficient vehicle, particularly for doing your daily city commutes. As expected the results are in line with the Jeep Avenger at all speeds, though, so picking one or the other better be based on features, design available deals.
