Tesla Cybertrucks get recalled because their lightbars are falling off
Tesla has recalled 6,197 Cybertrucks that were part of the limited edition Foundation series. These were the first Cybertrucks to be delivered to customers, starting in late 2023.
If you bought one of these, you had the option to get a full-width "off-road LED lightbar" which was to be attached to the top of the windshield with glue.
Fast forward to this February, and reports started coming in about these lightbars falling off since the glue no longer held them in place. Tesla has received 619 warranty claims and one field report related to the falling lightbars.
The good news is that the company says it's not aware of any collisions, injuries or fatalities relating to this issue. The problem apparently stems from the fact that the service technicians who glued them on didn't properly follow Tesla's instructions for attaching them.
Of course Tesla has an incentive to say that, putting all the blame on the installers. Obviously, had these lightbars not simply relied on glue to be installed, we wouldn't be in this situation, but the company doesn't have any reason to admit that.
Tesla will now inspect all of the 6,197 recalled Cybertrucks and replace the lightbar with a new unit if any issues with it sticking to the windshield are detected. The new units will be installed with tape and "a positive mechanical attachment".
If there's no damage or delamination observed, Tesla's technicians will retrofit a bracket that's mechanically anchored to the vehicle's body, and, if necessary, an adhesive tape. So, basically, it's now doing what it should have been all along.

Well, tesla itself are repaired with glue. I feel specially sad for cybertruck if I want to tow something. Basically the main reason why I don't want cybertruck anymore. Range is also a problem.

is it 'made in usa'..then yeah quality sucks. higher standards would require exterior pieces to be bolted, which means drilling holes. labor is expensive in usa so they cheap out by slapping a 3m sticky to attach things then bill you ...
