Porsche Taycan sets a Guinness World Record

The Porsche Taycan has now set another Guinness World Record. This time, it's for the longest continuous vehicle drift on ice by an EV.

At the wheel of a Taycan GTS, on an ice track at the Porsche Arctic Center in Levi, Finland, instructor Jens Richter managed to complete 132 laps in controlled oversteer, covering 10.876 miles in 46 minutes, using only throttle and steering interventions. The car used commercially available Michelin tires with 0.04 inches spikes. The drift circle had a 2,323 inches diameter. The previous world record was 9.202 miles.

It was done on January 14 in difficult conditions, with the first try aborted after around 7 miles due to the ice surface deteriorating faster than expected. The second run was the successful one, and it was all done under the watchful eye of Guinness World Records adjudicator Carl Saville, who presented the driver with the record certificate on the spot.

The Taycan already held three Guinness World Records: the greatest altitude change by an EV, the fastest speed driven by a vehicle in an enclosed building, and the longest drift with an EV.
