Skoda Elroq vRS is the company's latest electric speed demon

Skoda unveiled its fastest production vehicle to date, the Elroq vRS. This electric family crossover shatters previous performance benchmarks set by the Czech automaker. The new model promises a thrilling blend of speed and electric efficiency.

The Elroq vRS gets the same dual-motor powertrain the VW ID.4 GTX uses. It delivers a powerful 250 kW (340 hp), and it propels the Elroq from zero to 62 mph in a rather swift 5.4 seconds. That’s exactly the same time VW ID.4 GTX manages to achieve, and the Elroq beats the Enyaq RS by 0.1 seconds.

Although the Elroq vRS shares its MEB platform and dual-motor setup with the ID.4, Skoda claims it has tuned it for enhanced performance. A mid-five-second sprint might not break records in the world of high-performance EVs, but it positions the Elroq vRS as a serious contender against many sporty ICE-powered hatchbacks.

Skoda also focused on improving the handling dynamics of the vRS, featuring revised steering, upgraded brakes, optional adaptive suspension, and a lowered ride height. These modifications promise a more engaging driving experience compared to the standard rear-wheel-drive Elroq models.

The Elroq vRS rides on large 21-inch wheels and inside it features Suedia microfiber upholstery with lime green stitching, a perforated leather steering wheel, and sports seats that offer an optional massage function.

As with any performance-oriented EV, the Elroq vRS experiences a slight drop in range compared to its less powerful counterparts. The vRS model, with its 79 kWh battery, claims a range of 342 miles, which is slightly less than the Elroq 85’s 348 miles. Thankfully, Skoda the Elroq vRS can also charge at up to 185 kW. This translates to a 10-80% charging time of 26 minutes, compared to the 28 minutes of other Elroq models.

The company hasn’t officially confirmed the prices yet, but we wouldn’t be surprised if this green speed demon nudges the $67,000 mark, since the 85x version is already priced at $60,600 in Europe. And $67,000 is a lot of money for what used to be known as a value brand.
