The higher the C-rate (charging or discharging) the higher are the energy losses and ineficiencies transfered from electrical energy to heat... This heat is not only energy wasted, but also energy that needs to be dissipated out of the batteries, it is raising the temperature of batteries and is defacto limiting the realworld charging speeds back to almost (2-3C) standard chargeing speeds... The makers are compensating this "flaw" the easiest way(at least for them) by raising the size/capacity of batteries what effectively makes the batteries able to absorb bigger amount of energy(and heat) in the same time comparing to smaller ones. Obviously the fact that the consumer has to pay extra for something he will not benefit on most of (short) trips is only good for the manufacturer, less so for the consumer... and guess what, they will not tell you about it...

They should release a cheaper 150 miles range variant as well with 30kwh or 40kwh battery. Instead of bigger batteries they should have a 5C fast charging battery (12 minutes full charge) and set up fast charging stations.
