If the US places a tariff on Chinese imports he wins again with US domestically produced Teslas being more competitive. China may retaliate but only with US imported goods not domestically produced ones. Tesla knows the competition is coming thick and fast and because they are slower at producing new models they are at risk of appearing outdated.
