VW Group leads European EV sales in April, as Skoda Elroq gets a flying start
Anonymous, 26 May 2025Without governments oppressing it's citizens, EV sales would plummet. The only “government oppression” is from Trump trying to force feed American cars that people don’t want onto people.
People DO want electric cars as they are cheaper to “fuel” and virtually free to maintain.
But every OTHER manufacturer is now making better EVs that don’t cost as much as Tesla.
It’s not just politics. It’s that Tesla didn’t lower its prices and didn’t make its Tesla 2 car in time.

The only “government oppression” we see is from Trump trying to artificially distort free trade by forcing people to buy American cars that people don’t actually like.
If Tesla wants to sell cars it needs to lower its exorbitant prices and update its old technology to keep up with VW and all the other European or Chinese choices of electric cars that people are flocking to buy.

Dolf, 24 May 2025Elon made the capital mistake of siding with the conservative (far) right, which in Europe are... moreHe just miscalculated how important political "views" in Eu. If this can happen to US companies for same reason but different spectra in US, this can happen in Eu. It's kind a irrational, but it's part of marketing and sales. But Eu Ev manufacturers has another problem, simply lack of quality, tec. And really high costs of energy. Why even bother with EU manufacturers EV's when very low tier ones cost 35-40k € and electricity prices tripled over the past 3 years?Partly irrational politics based on double standard virtues is the cause for that . But yeah, while west is playing stupid games, other market players just simply overtaking markets. I guess it's not coincidence that even heavily taxed chinese brands are steadily appearing in Eu streets.

Obi, 23 May 2025I just purchased a tesla thanksElon made the capital mistake of siding with the conservative (far) right, which in Europe are mostly miserable old people or low education young people, the former being anti-EV no matter what, the latter having no money to afford a Tesla, and both being anti-change, and sensitive to big-oil propaganda.

It's much worse than that. VAG's total combined EV sales in Europe in April were nearly 5 times Tesla's. The gulf is enormous once you account for all the associated brands.

That's amazing. Musk proved to be a terrible leader, so why bother purchasing his company's products? Especially in countries he has a problem with.
This should keep happening even after he's out of the US government.
