Mercedes-Benz is partnering with Google to integrate the advanced Gemini AI into its upcoming all-electric CLA, improving the in-car experience with natural, conversational voice commands.

What a joke.
Gemini is worse in voice than Assistant was 5-7 years ago.
Problem is, Google abandoned Assistant some years ago.

Can we stop with turning everything in the car into a touch screen? consumers have expressed OVER AND OVER again that having to use a crappy touch screen to do everything in their car is irritating and distracting, which isn't exactly what you want when you're driving a 2 ton metal box that can kill people if you lose attention for just a second. We want less screens, one in the instrument cluster is enough. A small display that shows range, current speed, temperature, and what's playing is enough. everything else should be a button or a knob.

And when I say buttons and knobs, I don't mean the gear shifter either. The column shifter is fine, stop turning it into buttons and knobs.

I think there should be one option to operate a car without any such unnecessary rubbish that's unneeded.

Some of us don't need such tracking, radiation and perennial connectivity every moment of our life. Specially, not in a car.

… so its now more or less usable. mercs system was never worth using, its unintuitive, slow. this should have happened years ago. and now still the ui looks dated as if it was designed in 2015.

I would only buy it if it's jailbreakable.
The first thing I would then do is delete all that useless AI crap and flash a custom ROM onto my car. Now that would be the smartest thing to do. Who needs a smart car when you can outsmart it?

Car manufacturers are so stupid that they didn't even think to make the displays matte, not to mention the point of having them in cars at all when smartphones exist. Mercedes with fake plastic “sport” exterior vents is the height of cringe.
