Why are ppl so ignorant.. the autobahn has no speed limit, you can drive as fast as you wish as long as you follow the rules. Unlike the ignorant Americans, the rules are simple, left lane is for passing, do not pass on the right, if you are in the left most lane and completed passing the car that was in front of you the move the right asap, do not hog the left lane.

He didn't do it to prove anything. There are thousands of drivers in Germany driving everyday on the Autobahn at 250km/h (speed limiter maximum on most cars) or even faster (sportier cars with no limiter). In every day trip I take in Germany, I'll reach the max speed of my car and still crave for a bit more (in suitable stretches of the highway).

And before people with endless phobia start crying, Germany still has among the lowest car accident/fatality rates on the planet. It's not speed alone that kills (consider quality of roads, age and maintenance of vehicles, strictness of driving lessons and exams etc.).
