Sony and Honda cancel the Afeela co-developed EVs
- jhon
This was a ridiculous car from moment 1.. who needs a Playstation with wheels..
They could have made better cars but spoiled it trying to make a mobile entertainment system to sell Sony shit inside.. This is the type of "car" that really devaluates every year

AfeelA is such a dumb name for a car brand anyway. Sony and Honda could of came up with something better more catchy.

to be honest, i never expected this to succeed in the first place, even from the very first announcement.
The specs as announced weren't particularly impressive even for 2020. As in, it basically seemed like a (2012) Model S, plus a few gimmicks. Unless you absolutely loved Sony software and completely valued the "software experience" of a car over the driving experience, there was no reason to get excited about it.
Not surprised it got cancelled. It was DOA anyways.

Why cancel something that could've been great? I was really looking forward to Sony electronics in a Honda car.

I visited the pop up they had in the San Diego Westfield UTC mall, and the demo was the equivalent of an untested software demo on stage. They spent a lot of money on the showcase and not enough making the experience good. The volume was broken and super loud, nothing really worked, and this is before focusing on the fact that the car itself is one of the most unexciting sheet metal designs I've seen in a while. If the proposed price was low like a Slate truck, someone would buy it - but for Lucid money I doubt anyone would have gone for it. I'm surprised it took them this long to give up.

Probably one of the most boring EVs I have seen yet. Good thing they cut their losses
