23 April 2026
Only Tesla owners who bought the FSD package will be eligible for the retrofit.

Mars by '20s anyone? (He meant 2120s, which is seriously way more realistic), or the NYC to LA unsupervised by late 2017 was beautiful, guy was only 3 decades away (nothing unsupervised in consumer cars before mid century). How about "AI is a problem because Super AI is around the corner because iteration is solved that he said in 2016? Iteration is not solved, what we currently call AI is not true intelligence, we only learnt how to produce proto intelligence and will probably take us centuries before even creating true artificial intelligence. Great guy. Completely wrong in every major prediction of his! How about his bet on robots? Great idea, but he will have to wait something like 50 years to turn profit on it.

Those tech billionaires keep investing on the wrong thing.

This century was supposed to be the life sceinces' one , and that kurzweil guy put all those techbillionaires on the wrong track. None of what he is saying is coming. End of all disease, *could* be coming if the wrong fiction was not to become popular and not everyone were to go to CS. Hello?!Human genome project, ending most bacterial deaths in the 20th century, child mortality. The one part of human development that we trully move by leaps and bounds and attracts very few. Instead they all go to dumbass silicon engineering. The one that nature rejected.

Of course, it will be revealed that HW4.1 won't be enough for full self driving either, so they will delay setting up micro factories until HW5 is ready.

Oh, by the way, full self driving still won't work on HW5, just wait until HW6, it'll totally work for sure by then...

Do people still believe what Elon Musk says anymore?

  • total response time

FSD handoff to a human driver requires time. That combined with time to react to the situation requires additional separate time. The total response time is important. Knowing this, Tesla FSD follow distance is unusually short (likely due to camera resolution) for higher speeds and likely insufficient compared to a realistic total response time.

Tesla's 7 car lengths needs to be extended meaningfully. Waiting for an update. Maybe China will regulate this total response time sooner as ROW follows behind.
