BMW is testing the iX5 Hydrogen and preparing for its series production

another example of german engineering decline.
japs sold their hydrogen junk to bmw.
japs dont even buy/want hydrogen junk in their domestic market.
imagine getting someone's leftovers/junk.

Anonymous, 11 Sep 2026Batteries is still not as good as hydrogen, especially when it comes to full charge. Also, hyd... moreLol. You use all these outdated talking points but without any real world numbers, or real life examples. In reality, hydrogen is worse than Batteries in every single way.
Full charge on Hydrogen? Wow, great. You can fully charge a Hydrogen car faster, up to its... 300km range. rare earth minerals? none in LFP batteries, whereas hydrogen fuel cells need things like platinum to work. Takes "forever..." like a whole 9 minutes on BYD's flash charging to get to 97%, not 70% like you're lying about.
It emits "only" water... whereas BEVs emit nothing at all. It runs on renewable resources... just like BEVs, except its inherent inefficiency means it runs on 4x more, thus costing more than 4x more because you have to pay several companies for production, transport, and running the stations.
Oh, right, and you have to wait for the hydrogen station to be built, because there's no way to fill up at home.
All your talking points are about 25 years out of date. Hydrogen development has gone nowhere since 2000, whereas battery technology has been improving exponentially.

There is no x5 anymore. Those new models just exploiting x5 brand name to push marketing agenda and score sales numbers.

wersy2, 11 Sep 2026What's the point?Batteries is still not as good as hydrogen, especially when it comes to full charge. Also, hydrogen only emits water and can fully rely on renewable sources. By contrast, batteries requires rare earth materials, just like ICE's catalytic converter, and takes forever to fully charge the battery since it always slows down the charging power after 80% charge and beyond. Even BYD's 1.5 Megawatt Flash Charging only works at 10-70%. After 70%, it greatly slows down the power in order not to explode the battery. No such worry with hydrogen since the tank is already made for high pressure fill up in the first place.

Really happy to see both BMW and Toyota still going strong with hydrogen. For an EV, hydrogen fuel cell always makes sense than battery. The fact that it's entirely possible to co-exist or replace existing petrol/diesel station with hydrogen power and hydrogen fill up is exactly similar as petrol/diesel fill up should make it the future. I always maintain that battery is just a stop gap for hydrogen power.
